Dear friends!

Here is the new version of Klondike Solitaire (3-card edition)!

Rules and strategy

Klondike (or Klondike Solitaire) is an old variety of patience card games. It is played using one 52-card deck.

28 cards from the deck are separated into seven columns: one card in the rightmost column, two cards in the one next to it, and so on. All cards in each column, except for the top card, are placed face down. The remaining deck can be dealt either by one or by three cards depending on the selected game parameters. (If the deck is being dealt by three cards, then the player will only be able to access the topmost of the tree).

The goal of the game is to sort the cards by suit in the order from ace to king, in four stacks (the "house"). In each stack used to sort cards, first the ace is placed, followed by two, then three and so on, up to the king.

One can shit one card or a stack (with cards sorted in decreasing order, with cards necessarily alternating colors one by one) from a column, or an accessible card from the deck, into another column - on top of the following card of a different color and according to seniority. For instance, a nine of hearts or a nine of diamonds may only be place on top of a ten of spades or a ten of clubs.

It is possible to move cards from the house into columns using a similar principle.

The empty columns appearing over the course of solving the hand may only serve as potential placeholders for kings or stacks based on kings.

Remember that 1 card played moves the entire deck (all the cards following said card) by 1 card, meaning if you need to bring out an ace in this position

you should play any single card before the ace (above the ace). Then after a full cycle of scrolling the ace will come up.

If you play 2 cards before the ace, the ace after scrolling will end up in the middle, if you play 3 cards, nothing will change, 4 card played equal 1, 5 cards played equal 2 and so on. It means that the correct strategy is not to play all the possible moves one by one, but to display the cards you need in the proper succession. This is particularly important to keep in mind when solving a difficult hand.

You can play as a regular user or a registered user. The registered users retain the entire game history with an option to return to any previous game and continue any take, an option to bookmark the best hands, leave a commentary, participate in a competition with other player and send personal messages to other registered players.

In order to register you simply need to enter a name (starting with 3 characters) and a password (no less than 5 characters). If such a name is already registered in the game, you will have to enter another one.

Upon exiting everything is saved automatically. After logging on the next time you will find yourself in the same state you were in when you last left.

Undo, redo (also arrow left and arrow right keys on the keyboard) allow you to undo and redo moves at your discretion, up to the very beginning.

New game - starts a new game. By repeatedly pressing the new game key you can scroll through games and choose the hand you prefer. By pressing the arrow up/arrow down keys on the keyboard you can move through the hands offered. Only those hands that you have started playing (meaning those you have made at least one move in) will end up in your game history.

Start over - begins a new attempt.

Automove - automatically does all the moves from the playing area and the bank to the house

Special move - this allows for a fast scroll back over the sequence of moves until you reach the stage required. This helps you quickly locate the stage where you possibly had made a mistake. After having pressed the special move button, select any card on the desk and click on it. The computer brings you back to the initial positioning of this card, meaning the moment you made the first move with said card (if nothing happens, it means you have not yet moved this card). You can exit the special move mode by repeatedly clicking the special move button, or by pressing the ESC key.

After selecting special move you can scroll your decision with Redo and Undo buttons. Until you have made a new move you may cancel the special move by pressing the "cancel special move" button (where the special move button previously was).

Available moves - this highlights the card you can make a move with, in yellow. This does not mean that you absolutely have to make said move; the choice is yours. When following a correct strategy, you do not make all the moves randomly, but you use a certain strategy.

You can turn off this mode by once again clicking the "possible moves" button.

A list of your attempts is indicated above, with an option to return to any one of them. The large number indicates the number of your current take. Red colored number indicates the number of hands which you have solved. To go to another attempt, press on the relevant number. When returning to unsolved hands you shall see the previous positioning of the cards. When you go to solved hands, you will be able to see how you had made your moves by scrolling «redo» and «undo» buttons.

You shall find hand info below the attempts list:

  • Hand number (999);
  • Hand rating (rating 1:38) — average time spent by all players to solve this hand, the number of players who solved the hand out of the number of the players who attempted to solve it;
  • Amount of moves in the current attempt (moves 51);
  • Current time of the latest attempt (time 2:41). If you haven’t made a single move during 15 seconds (e.g. you got distracted from the game), time freezes. The frozen time is highlighted in blue. Any move made afterwards resumes the time count;
  • Total time spent on all attempts (total time 4:30).

Green dot means you have Internet connection, red dot means you are disconnected. You can still finish the hand while disconnected, but it will not be saved in your history, and you will not participate in the rating unless the connection restores while you are playing.

Mark card refers to the option of marking any card. You can remove a mark by repeatedly pressing the card in the "mark card" move.
